TCM Urinary Disorders Treatment Theory

Traditional Chinese Medicine views categorizes urinary disorders into different types of "lin disease". In general, "lin disease" indicates any urinary condition involving frequency, urgency, pain or any other issues.

Some of the main contributing factors involved in the development of urinary issues are:

  • Pathogenic Dampness of either internal or external origin. External causes can be from living in a damp environment or working under damp conditions. Internal causes can be related a poor diet and/or lack of exercise, among other factors.
  • Stagnation of Qi in the lower warmer from excess lifting a/or prolonged standing.
  • Excessive sexual activity (mainly in men), or simply old age, leading to KD Jing and Qi deficiencies affecting the Bladder.
  • Emotional factors, mainly anger a/or frustration leading to LV or HT Fire where the LV fire effects the bladder directly and the HT effects the bladder via the SI, usually painful, burning urination.
