Discussion of qi gong for exercise, stress reduction, and health.
Right, so the lower dantian is our essence center whereas the middel dantian is the energy center, right? The md, as far as i understand, is where usable qi creation happens and also where it is distributed to the rest of the body. So why is it that in qi gong and internal martial arts breathing is done with the ld?
Also where does yuan qi get imprinted on zong qi? In the ld or md? And I've heard the ld is connected with all the meridians so that would seem like the ideal place for redistribution to me?
I'm having a really hard time understanding this.
Hello~ I was reading a prior post regarding keeping one's own energy stronger than those you are in contact with. I am a visual artist & do life/body casting & come in contact with people on a daily basis. Often I find that my energy is sapped, while those around me seem energized.
I was hoping, that a local Qi Gong instructor/teacher could be recommended. I am in the Hoboken, NJ area- very close to NYC- & am having trouble finding a reputable center. Can you recommend a Qi Gong teacher in my area?
Thank you kindly.
Hello,
Few questions regarding breathing exercises.
What is the significance of inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth, is there any breathing technique in chinese medicine that propagates inhaling through the mouth and exhaling through the nose.
Breathing deeply has more significance or which part (mouth or nose) you are breathing from has more significance.

Hi Chad:
Upon thinking about your answers from my last post I decided to try Da Peng. I had bought the book a few years ago but never did it as I was already doing another qigong form.
I read the book thoroughly then about a week ago decided to slowly work with it. I like that it opens the spine and then the last few are more calming and relaxing.
I have a few questions:
Hi:
I am chronically ill and have been practicing Spring Forest Qigong for about 6 months (increasing to about 3 hours/day) and had to quit because of the following:
In trying to move yin/yang up and down or do microcosmic orbit, the more chi, the more the diaphragm would tighten. Through communication with a student of Master Lin, she said:
What is the origin/nature and role of Ming Men ( GV4) in Qi Gong theory?
I'm trying to make sense of the conversion of Essence into Qi which seems to underpin much of Qi Gong theory. I'll try to keep my preamble brief but this is where i'm at in trying to piece this together...
It is said that Essence in its prenatal aspect is fixed and is instrumental in the unfolding of the life cycle, the maturation process. Whereas acquired Essence derived from physical, emotional, intellectual stimulation can modify the developmental process. Fine.

Various sources suggest that the term "Qi Gong" is of recent origin - appearing just a few decades back( though the practice is much older). Thay suggest that the two character term appears nowhere any of the scriptures like the "Daoist Canon".
Could you kindly let me know how far back the term "Qi Gong" can be traced.
Thanking you.
Sincerely,
Dilip Rajeev
