The study of Western Medicine is of critical importance for practitioners of any style of complementary and alternative medicine. A comprehensive understanding of medical conditions from a western standpoint is helpful to those using alternative methods in order to better direct the intent of the treatments. Furthermore, there are many pharmaceutical treatments and medical techniques which clients of TCM and CAM practitioners may be considering or undergoing. For the benefit of our patients it is best to keep informed of possible interactions or side effects that patients may experience from western treatments.
