Bodywork Therapy Resources (Shiatsu, Tuina, Trigger Points, etc.)
Bodywork therapies are an important part of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Within Chinese Medicine, for example, tuina massage is a vital discipline that excels in the treatment of certain conditions. Tuina draws on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Theory. From Japan, Shiatsu/Amma techniques are based on aspects of Japanese Medicine Theory and are also very useful.
Our western massage techniques both draw from these older manipulative therapies and give back in theories such as "trigger points." Trigger point theory is both useful in its own right and its correlations and usefulness within modern acupuncture theory add another dimension to our understandings of the medicine.
If you are new to bodywork you may want to read our introductory information. And if you are looking for a practitioner, see our Bodyworkers directory.
