What Keeps Us Well?

This afternoon I chanced upon this article (link) about increased incidence of a stomach virus called “norovirus”. According to the article, “There are no medicines that can treat norovirus or shorten the infection’s duration, so people sickened with the illness are typically advised simply to drink plenty of fluids and get extra rest.”

But we know better!

So spread the word. There are many ways that we can keep our bodies radiant, strong, resilient and balanced. We are not helpless victims of circumstances! Nor are we dependent on pharmaceuticals to stay well or to heal. If we start by examining our beliefs and fears, we can discover whether we have become convinced by media hype that we are susceptible to a viral or bacterial infection that has been labeled "highly contagious"?

Do we think using antibacterial soap is what protects us from illness? Do we understand the workings of the immune system? Are we clear about the role that stress plays in keeping our bodies in balance, and the many disciplines that can help reduce stress and restore the body's natural resilience?

Drinking plenty of water and getting extra rest are preventive measures that should be instituted before succumbing to illness. There are many qigong, medical qigong, and energy medicine exercises that will bring triple warmer and spleen into balance. These important energies together keep the immune system running well. When we are stressed, triple warmer grabs energy from other meridians, starting with spleen. Triple warmer's chief concern is to keep us alive.

By monitoring our thought patterns, we can reassure ourselves that things that we might get upset about are not really matters of life and death. Triple Warmer is very response to such thoughts. Because it runs around the ears, it listens to external input and our internal thought processes. From the temple it makes a connection deep within the brain to the hypothalamus gland. This gives it the ability to communicate "DANGER!" to the nervous system, the endocrine system, and all the meridians.

So if this norovirus is prevalent now, it is an important time to balance and keep up with the daily routine. Separating Heaven and Earth is very helpful for bringing more space into the body to help the organs function optimally. Activities that get radiant circuit energy humming will all help calm triple warmer and enhance the function of your immune system. The simple practice of The Inner Smile is an excellent way to activate radiant circuits. Laughing, and doing the things that bring you joy also get radiant circuit energy flowing. When they are activated, triple warmer knows that all is well, and so it relaxes. The body shifts from stress physiology to the physiology that supports well-being.

Won’t it be nice when such self-care advice is included along with the warnings about impending contagious illnesses?
