Restoring Energy impacted by electronic devices
Use of electronic devices - computers, cell phones, ipads, readers, and even our increasingly electronic automobiles can lead to fatigue, scrambled energy, joint pain and other discomfort.
The Latissimus Dorsi stretch, taught by Donna Eden, developer of Eden Energy Medicine, is a wonderful antidote. This stretch opens central meridian, opens the chest, brings in a full breath, unscrambles energy, supports the control and flow cycles, helps release wind from the kidney area, and appears to have a beneficial effect on so many things that go out of balance with stress.
I recommend clients stop and do this every 20 minutes, especially if they are in front of a computer for prolonged periods.
Open Tigers mouth, spreading the thumb back from the rest of the fingers. Rotate the wrists, and place the thumbs forward at the waist, fingers pointing toward the spine. Inhale, tucking the chin while stretching the spine up, neck slightly back to open the chest. Draw the elbows back as far as possible without strain, fully opening the chest. Exhale and relax. Repeat 3-6 times.
A second energizer comes from Norm Shealy who recommends bouncing for 3 minutes of every hour. You can simply swing both arms, coming up on your toes, and repeat 10-30 times. Or you can lift off the floor as your arms reach overhead.
Third, vigorously shake off your hands as if you were shaking down a thermometer. First hold the hands thumb up, then all fingers level. Next, circle the wrists, turning the thumbs toward the center line, down and out and then reverse. Repeat 3-9 times. Follow by massaging the hands. place the thumb at the inside of the wrist, fingers on the outside of the hand, and .pull with moderate pressure along the palm and off the tip of each finger in turn. Then on the back of the hand trace along the spaces between the metatarsal bones. Repeat hand shaking. This prevents toxic energy from building up in the hands and wrists. If the wrists have any soreness, form a ring around one wrist by bringing the thumb and middle finger of the opposite hand to meet around the wrist and rotate the encircled hand. Finish by pulling the energy off the fingers.
