3 Ways to Reduce Anxiety
One of my energy medicine clients was about to take a new step, volunteering at a local hospital. She would be putting in her first day as a volunteer after our morning meeting. She wanted to know if there was something we could do to reduce her anxiety.
We did several rounds of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, which involves tapping on the ends of meridians). She found that process to be calming. She then mentioned that she found it anxiety producing to be around crowds, especially in a hospital environment.
I had her bring a specific instance to mind. We checked her energy with kinestheiology. Her energy tested weak. I then had her hold her main neurovascular points on her forehead while she continued to recall this memory. These neurovascular points are associated with the liver, so they help the body process emotions. Holding them also brings more blood supply from the hind brain to the forebrain. I asked her to tell me when she felt a strong pulse at her forehead.
It only took about 40 seconds before she reported feeling her pulse strengthen under her palm. She released her hold on the neurovascular points on the forehead, and we tested again. Now her energy was strong.
I've found that as long as the person focuses on the instance that they have recalled of stress, anxiety, or trauma while they hold their forehead, the aspect of that particular memory that they have treated is completely resolved and does not return.
We started tossing a light plastic ball back and forth. After dropping the ball, she said "I'm not well-coordinated." I was struck by the fact that she was evaluating her performance as we tossed the ball, and that her assessment was deleterious. In response, I asked, "What have you been telling yourself?"
She smiled, slightly embarrassed, and said, "that I can't do it". She caught on immediately. From then on she caught every throw, even the awkward ones. Then she declared, "I'm telling myself I can do it!"
On her own, she understood that she could apply what she'd learned playing catch to her efforts in this new endeavor. This was the best demonstration I could have conjured to illustrate the power of our thoughts. My client easily extrapolated the understanding that this experience granted.
