Canadian Acupuncturists Beware of Steiners TransOcean!!!

To all Canadian and American Acupuncturists beware of Steiners TransOcean Inc., The mega spa company seeking cheap labor from U.S & Canada by taking advantage of jobless market for Acupuncture.

Realistically contrary to their claim potential earning of $1000/wk is not guaranteed and rarely possible. About half of that income is gratuity, therefore the true potential commission is probably less than $500/wk even if you become a top earner. That's less than $10/hr for 55 to 70 hour work week.

Acupuncturist working for Steiner should demand to be paid no less then $30 to $40/hr plus a reasonable 15% to 20% commission for prescribing herbal medicine. In my opinion there should be an Association for Acupuncturists working on Cruises to regulate unfair pay policy. As of now there isn't any standards or regulating body on Interantional waters to oversee unfair policies so Steiner can basically do what ever they want.

Our only option is to unite among ourselves and demand fair wages. Don't let them take advantage of you anymore! The cost of living is sky rocketing daily. So say no to Steiners  and refuse to work for no less than a reasonable fee for highly skilled medical service you provide! Our time should be worth more than $10 to $15 an hour.

For the good of entire Acupuncture Profession please voice yourself against unfair and under valued compensation practices. Email or write to Steiner and Cruise Lines demanding fair compensation or write for publication online or on trade magazines.

Keep in mind corporations will not change their policy until it's trully necessary . Talk to fellow Acupuncturists about this issue and start a grass roots movement to establish fair compensation for all Acupuncturists working on Cruises. Remember demand for Acupuncture is growing on Cuises so Steiner needs us more than ever, lets be strong and deligent to make changes that will benefit all of us.

I am open to all comments positive and negative. Feel free to write your comments regarding this issue. The most important thing at this stage is creating all sorts of dialogue to stir interests so as a  fellow Acupuncturist please participate even if working on a cruise in not an option for you.

Thank you for your attention the statement mentioned above has been my personal views seeking  solutions to fair compensation and NOT meant to criticize any entity with malicious intent.
