For renal failure (or any condition you are trying to treat in Chinese Medicine) you first need to come to a diagnosis using Chinese Medicine terminology. In the case of kidney failure, the Kidney system in Chinese Medicine is effected, but others may be as well, so using proper diagnostic techniques such as the tongue and pulse are important. You should read through the Kidney imbalances section which has descriptions of the imbalances and recommended points.
I would also use the huatuo of T1, T2, T3 (together stimulate/balance the immune system), L2 (kidney function) and UB 9.
