CV 22 Acupuncture Point - Tian Tu - Conception Vessel Meridian

  • Chinese Name Tian Tu
  • English Name Celestial Chimney
     
  • Location: At the notch in the superior aspect of the suprasternal fossa.
     
  • Precautions: NDN, Needle should be inserted perpendicularly .2 - .3 cun and retained or then angled and inserted an additional .3 - .7 cun (up to 1 cun total) so that it follows the posterior aspect of the manubrium.
     
  • Point Associations:
  • Window of the Sky Point.
  • Intersection Point of the CV & Yinwei Meridians.
     
  • Actions & Effects:
  • All throat/vocal cord disorders - sore/dry throat, hoarseness, swallowing issues, speech issues such as loss of voice, cracked voice.
  • Window of the Sky Point - useful for aphasia.
  • Upper chest Qi/Stagnation issues - asthma, wheezing, pain in the upper chest, tightness, oppression.
